About Us

“Change happens through movement and movement heals” – Joseph Pilates

Opening a Pilates studio was a big, big change for me – and a scary one, but it was the best thing I have ever done.

Me (Kelly) and my dad, without whom this studio would not exist as it does today.  Thanks dad!

Our Story

Where It All Began

I opened Inner Power Pilates in January 2014 on a wing and a prayer – it wasn’t fancy, it didn’t have the best equipment, I was teaching one person at a time in a group class, but I persevered.  Now, five years later, I am finally living the dream of teaching the Pilates method in my own studio and continuing my Classical Pilates education.  Reaching five years is a milestone and, like any small business, we have had our ups and downs.  We are now finally getting to the point where all the hard work, sweat and tears have paid off and we are THE ONLY Pilates studio in the area combining contemporary and classical Pilates.  The teachers here are trained by us and other respected teachers with even more experience, and have, or are headed towards, the highest Pilates qualifications.

“What you can do, or dream you can, begin it; Boldness has genius, power and magic in it”.

Info & Qualifications

I came to the Fylde coast via Brisbane and it was here where I first studied as a Fitness Specialist, personal trainer and strength and conditioning coach. I then discovered this thing called Pilates… I studied the Matwork and then some Apparatus, but it was around this time that I was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer and after surgical treatment I decided to come back to the UK.

After recovering from this setback, I decided I needed a challenge and for some reason I took up trail running. After my physio and podiatrist both told me that I wouldn’t be able to do more than 15 miles a week (at the time I had foot problems, collapsing arches, ‘shin splints’, hip pain, knee pain, foot pain, developing bunions, arthritis in my big toes), I decided to sign up for the Himalayas 100 Mile Stage race. I started running distances up to 40 miles at a weekend and over a year developed the stamina to complete the 100 miles out in the Himalayas – one of the highlights of my life and where my passion for helping runners stems from.

I am a great believer that life is a continual learning process and I have spent a lot of time studying the Pilates method.  Pilates for me is magic – it has created balance in my body, a greater sense of precision and alignment in my own movement and has shifted me away from exercising for the sake of it to a more intelligent way of moving.  I am also a qualified Restorative Exercise Specialist certifying in 2017 with Katy Bowman of Nutritious Movement and a Level 5 Sports and Rehab Therapist.
